Jun Fan Gung Fu
Jun Fan Gung Fu, named after and developed by Sijo (Teacher) Bruce Lee is a progressive fighting system which contains series and well-defined techniques, which can be learned and taught.
As Sijo Bruce Lee continued to develop in the martial arts, he found he was no longer strictly teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu which were the his roots of his martial arts training. So he named the system he developed after himself, Jun Fan Gung Fu (Little Dragon). Jun Fan Gung Fu is an actual system, with a structure, techniques, rank structure and progression. Students are taught to move with ease and confidence through the different ranges of combat, from long-distance kicking range, to middle-distance hand range, to close-quarter trapping and finally to grappling range.
Jeet Kune Do (Way of the Intercepting Fist) is a later evolution of Bruce Lee's self-expression through the martial arts. It is much more comprehensive in scope and is generally referred to as JKD Concepts today. In JKD Bruce Lee suggests we use concepts such as intercepting the opponent as he prepares to attack. This seems like a simple thing to understand, but pulling it off is another thing altogether.
Jeet Kune Do was conceived by Lee, based on his experiences in unarmed fighting and self-defense. So, the concepts that are contained in JKD need physical examples. Those examples are contained within his Jun Fan Gung Fu system. It would be difficult to do if you didn't have a base system, such as Jun Fan Gung Fu, to learn the physical applications of the JKD Concepts.
We are proud to represent Sijo Bruce Lee's Jun Fan Gung Fu and the Inosanto Lineage in our program, through our proud connection to Warriors Way International and Tuhon Harley Elmore.
