Personal Training Gear

Students are required to have their own personal free sparring gear & rattan escrima sticks at yellow belt. Teens and adults should consider purchasing their own set of UFC gloves and a pair of boxing gloves as well. All students that wish to participate in padded stick sparring at tournaments should consider investing in their own personal padded escrima stick and a face shield. Having you own personal training gear while attending our martial arts classes are essential.

Here are some important reasons for using the appropriate training gear while attending class:

  1. Safety: Safety gear is designed to provide protection and minimize the risk of injury during sparring sessions. It helps absorb impact, protect vulnerable areas of the body, and reduce the chances of injury to oneself or our training partner. Gear such as mouthguards, headgear, hand pads, shin guards, foot pads, elbow pads and groin protectors offer essential protection and promote a safe training environment.

  2. Injury Prevention: The right training gear not only protects you but also prevents injuries to your training partners. For example, boxing gloves or UFC gloves in pad drills helps cushion the impact and reduce the risk of hand injuries when punching.

  3. Performance Enhancement: Proper gear can enhance your performance during training. For instance, well-fitted UFC and or boxing gloves allow for better mitts drill. UFC gloves with their open fingers enable the student to do grabs while trapping, whereas boxing gloves work great for punching, clenching and sparring.

  4. Hygiene and Cleanliness: Having your own personal free sparring gear, UFC gloves and boxing gloves are better than sharing those in the school. You don’t share a mouthpiece or uniform, so why share your boxing gloves or UFC gloves. Having your own clean gear not only promotes your own cleanliness but also shows respect for your training partners.

  5. Mental Focus: Owning and using the appropriate training gear helps you maintain mental focus and discipline. It signifies your commitment to training, sets a professional tone, and creates a mindset geared toward improvement and seriousness. When you are properly equipped, you can fully engage in training without distractions or discomfort.

  6. Compliance with Rules and Regulations: Different martial arts require the use of different training gear. Having the proper personal gear ensures that you can participate in training sessions, competitions, or events without issue.

Remember that the specific training gear required varies depending on the martial art we practice. Investing in your quality training gear, escrima sticks (both padded and rattan), foam dipped sparring gear, boxing gloves and open fingered UFC mitts and maintaining them properly will contribute to a safe, enjoyable, and productive training experience for all.

Being a student is tough work.
