Here are some not so minor things to not forget.

  • Please make sure your child is on time for class. Drop off 10 minutes prior to class and pick up no later than 10 minutes after class. We cannot be responsible for children unsupervised in the lobby.

  • Students may wear a full Strickland’s Martial Arts uniform or pants with a Strickland’s Martial Arts or approved tournament/camp/seminar or plain solid colored T‐shirts to class. If you don’t own a school T‐shirt you can purchase one using the app.

  • Please use wash your uniform/T-shirts/gear if they smell. Elbow pads and mouth pieces especially!

  • Use proper antiperspirant and deodorant when coming to class. Practice good bodily hygiene as a courtesy to others in the school. If you have a foot oder problem there are products on the market available to help.

  • Only red Taekwondo United co-branded/approved safety gear is allowed for free sparring. All Junior/Teens/Adults should purchase safety gear at yellow belt for free sparring.

  • Students should purchase their own bo staff, eskrima sticks, kama and nunchaku for in school and at home practice.

  • Some students are out growing their footgear (just like their shoes). Please purchase a new set of footgear if you / child’s toes are protruding past the end of the gear. It is a liability.

  • Write your name on you all of your equipment with a permanent magic marker. We are unable to locate gear/weapons and return them to the proper owner without a name written on it. Please write your name on each and every item.

  • Personalize your gear bag. Too many bags are being carried off by mistake.

  • Please hem and sew any long uniform pants, it is neater, will extend the life of the uniform, and will no longer be a distraction while in class.

  • Please sew the patches on the uniform. Do not use straight/safety pins to pin them on the uniform as it is a hazard to both your child/yourself and to others.

  • Men & boys wear your groin protector to class. Free sparring without one should never be an option.

  • Gentleman please watch the contact to the chest of our lady partners. Kicking them in the chest is no different than you being kicked in the groin, so don’t do it.

  • Wearing a colored mouth piece is not an option during free sparring. Just do it.

  • Please trim your nails. Long finger and toe nails are a hazard not only to your partner but to yourself.

  • Hair should be pulled back and out of your eyes using a hair tie.

  • Do not wear jewelry. Earring are a real hazard. Watches get in the way of grappling. Fitness trackers are acceptable.

  • Please no shoes on the practice floor. The grease, oil, and dirt from the parking lot will ruin the mats.

  • Please keep your hands, feet and faces off of the walls, glass and mirrors. Treat your Do-jang with respect.

  • Please pick up after yourselves and be sure to take what you brought to the school home with you.

  • Be sure to log in for attendance before each class.

  • Practice tying your belt as well as all of your martial skills at home.

  • Most importantly. Have fun!

Being a student is tough work.
